I’m not really sure what this book is trying be other than a hodgepodge of loosely related information that you could easily Google for and relating to Postgres.First, the chapters seem a bit out of order.

My main criticism of this book is that it explains a lot of how to do things but almost none of why. For example, it explains about 6 ways of doing replication, but it gives no hint of why one would choose, say, Slony over Bucardo.

Great book, It explains in a step by step way everything you need to know about PostgreSQL. The author explains everything from the basics like setting up a database to setting up a high availability cluster and doing regular maintenance tasks.
